Description: This is a small two-piece device that simulates the target-shooting of a soldier through the chemical effects of an electric spark (see file inventory number 5, fig. 50). It consists of a metal cylindrical container with a ballasted base, painted blue with golden trimmings, in which the booming gas, hermetically sealed by a cork, is introduced.The container has a circular hand-painted target with a central hole, in which there is a small brass spark gap having two small spheres at each end, each communicating with the external and the internal parts of the container. The small brass spark gap is enclosed within a glass tube, which acts as an insulating material.
Descrizione: è un piccolo apparato a due pezzi che simula il tiro al bersaglio di un soldato tramite gli effetti chimici della scintilla elettrica (vedi la scheda relativa al numero di inventario 5, fig. 50). Si compone di un recipiente cilindrico metallico con base zavorrata, verniciato in un bel blu turchino con rifiniture color oro, nel quale si introduce il gas tonante, chiuso ermeticamente da un tappo di sughero. Il recipiente porta verticalmente un bersaglio circolare pitturato a mano con un foro centrale nel quale è incassato, in un cannello di vetro (che provvede all'isolamento), un piccolo spinterometro d'ottone con due palline agli estremi, comunicanti con l'esterno e l'interno del recipiente.
   

Function: by charging a metal object resembling a soldier with a rifle (with a small metal ball at its end) with an electrostatic machine and by moving it towards the spark gap of the target, one generates a discharge that ignites the booming mixture and causes the ejection of the cork.

Funzionamento: caricando con una macchina elettrostatica una sagoma metallica raffigurante un soldato con un fucile (avente alla sua estremità una sferetta metallica) e avvicinandola allo spinterometro del bersaglio, si genera una scarica che provoca l'accensione dalla miscela tonante e l'espulsione del tappo.
